We meet the second Wednesday of every month at Troy View Church of God (click button below for directions) at 1770 North County Road 25A, Troy, Ohio 45373. We start at 7:00 PM EST. Doors open at 6:30 PM EST. Presentations are approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour and then we have club business until 8:30 PM. Refreshments will be provided & we love seeing new faces. Types of Meteorites and Their Significance
Bev Girten is a biologist who earned her Ph.D. from the Ohio State University. She worked for NASA for 25 years and managed numerous life science payloads on shuttle and International Space Station missions. She retired this past December and looks forward to spending more time collecting and selling meteorites, fossils, amber and other rocks and minerals.

May 13th, 2026, we heard from Guest Speaker: Suzan Jervey, MS, Senior Naturalist. She has previously worked with the Ohio Dept of Natural Resources and Publications. Her presentation was about Rock Collecting with a Naturalist around Ohio. She took us for a virtual nature hike at some of her favorite rock collecting sites. Suzan Jervey, with more than 50 years in environmental education, spoke about other things that can be seen along with the wonderful rocks, minerals and fossils of Ohio. Suzan lived in Miami County early in her career and enjoys retirement at her cabin in Licking County.

April 8th, 2026, we heard from Guest Speaker: Dan Cooper, the father of Jason Cooper who found the APEX Stegosaurus on their property in Colorado. He talked about the discovery, preparation, and sale of the $44 Million Dollar Dinosaur which is currently on display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City along with other ways his family has contributed to future education of fossil hunters.

March 11th, 2026, we heard from Guest Speaker: Dr. William Ausich, Academy Professor of Earth Sciences and Director of Orton Geological Musuem. Presentation Topic: Quest for Early Silurian Crinoids.

Christina Smith Fitzpatrick and Dana Nadar came together to create Interactive Bar Trivia Night: Presidents and Rocks along with special Rocktails (mocktails and bar food).
